Power Drive defining India outside

Statement:  National power grid added its last village from Manipur State naming Leisang.

Power

Let’s explore:
Government launches scheme naming “The rural electrification scheme”. Under this scheme, power will be distributed to 18,452 villages that have need seen electricity or power since independence and still struggling for power. This 18,452 count is an official count of un-electrified villages.

So, when Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi announces this scheme, it is signaling a significant milestone in the country’s development and still, the government seems to give facilities that are common and lacking such as school, panchayats and health centers, etc.

The average number of power supplied in a day to rural households that consumes power in January 2018 is 11.5 in Mizoram, 14.91 in Haryana, and 17.72 in Uttar Pradesh while 24 hours in Gujarat, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu respectively.

These variations (anomalies) in numbers are often the outcome of administrative inefficiency and infrastructure deficits. So, even with schemes from Central targeting 24x7 power to all states and union territories till April 2019 is far away.

The solution for this may lie in a hybrid approach that defines continued scaling up for the existing system (grid-connected and standalone solar system) in exact and appropriate areas having clear intent on cities as well.

Final Thoughts: Rural Electrification efforts being put up by each and every government as it shifted from Third Plan to Twelfth Plan and now it is the time to provide as sustainable policy support irrespective of government alteration.
